Interview with President of Asian Canoe Confederation by Vivek Dev Sharma
Indore, INDIA : The president of Asian canoe confederation, Mr. Masanori Narita has expressed hope that India can win medals in 2018 Asian games which will be held in Indonesia. Talking to Indianz X-PRESS newspaper in Indore, Mr Narita said that winning one medal is also very important for South Asian countries as this sport is in developing stage in this region. A canoe athlete himself, Mr. Narita has taken part in 1972 Munich Olympic Games and represented his country, Japan . He suggested that India should focus on female athletes because there are less number of strong female athletes around the world as India has. Asian Canoe President emphasized that India and Japan should work together to win a medal in 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. Japan has only one medal in this sport in the Olympic Games so far. He also extended all kinds of support to the Indian athletes for training before Tokyo Olympic Games. Mr. Narita is in town to witness National Canoeing and Kayaking championship and after watching the performance, he said that India will do very well in 2018 Asian Games and this can attract more financial support for development of this game. Among Asian countries, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and China are the strong nations in this sport and India, Japan and Korea are catching up.
