The uncanny Herath

HerathNorman’s Sri Lanka Diary

When one thinks about prolific wicket taking spinners you think of Warne, Murali , Kumble or Vettori but what about Rangana Herath from Sri Lanka?

This innocuous player has proven time and time again to be a constant threat taking bags of wicket especially on a turning Galle wicket.  He is once again in action against the Australians and is proving his worth albeit under the radar. He is now in the same wicket taking bracket as Lance Gibbs of 309 wickets and does not appear to be stopping despite his 38 years. He is a handy bat as well.

He could well bowl for another 4/5 years. If Misbah al Haq can play at 42 so can Rangana.
